A sunny weekend, from Sanremo to Sestriere, accompanied the 480 participants (record) from sixteen nations.
Milan (Italy), 11 September 2018 – The HARDALPITOUR HAT SANREMO-SESTRIERE 2018 ended in the spectacular setting of the Sestriere, an extraordinary and impeccable 10th edition which managed to excite all its numerous participants, including the staff and the representatives of the partner companies of this by now mythical adventuretravel added to the FIM/FMI Tourism Adventouring calendar.
Three days characterized by a beautiful sun that, since Friday, has allowed everyone to live with enthusiasm the many initiatives of the HAT Village: music, interviews with prestigious guests and participants, exposure of the products of many partners present who fully embraced the style and character of this event, the sensational departure of the HAT Extreme at 23.00 on Friday with the three great Dakar Heroes Aldo Winkler, Bruno Birbes and Brenno Bignardi, the way of the HAT Classic on Saturday at 12.00 with the protagonist of this edition, the YAMAHA Ténéré 700 World Raid Edition led by Alessandro Botturi, the return of Nicola Dutto … and much more!
The tenth edition of the HARDALPITOUR was also characterized by the record of registrations: 480 motorcyclists of which more than half came from 16 nations, since it makes the HAT the most important and qualified Adventouring event (non-competitive motorcycles tourism-adventure) in Europe. Sanremo was, once again, a very hospitable place for all the participants. The highlight in the “City of Flowers” was the Friday night meeting HAT HEROES NIGHT, at the Casino Theater, for the official presentation of the new YAMAHA Ténéré 700 and the 10th HAT edition.
So, the guest of honor of this HAT 2018 was her, the long-awaited maxi-enduro YAMAHA Ténéré 700 World Raid Edition which, in the YAMAHA WORLD RAID worldwide project, debuted in Europe making her first appearance in Sanremo with the great Alessandro Botturi, Italian rider of the three diapasons Brand in the Rally Raid world, who faced the Classic route accompanied by the French enduro and rally champion David Frétigné as well as by the expert Manuel Lucchese, Dakar rider, and fashion entrepreneur Ottavio Missoni, a great fan of motorcycles and an amateur pilot.
Among the special guests is also a very great Nicola Dutto, the Italian Paraplegic Pro Rider, who started the HAT Classic riding his KTM in a special version. A participation that for Nicola has represented a real training in view of the Dakar 20a19, the legendary rally competition that is preparing to face with incredible commitment and extraordinary determination despite the incident a few years ago that forced him, but not limited, on the wheelchair.
Really appreciated even the presence of Amy Harburg, the 42-year-old Australian motorcyclist who has soloed a 20,000 km adventure-trip started three months ago in Vladivostok (Russia), passing from Mongolia, crossing all of Asia Minor, to arrive in Europe from Turkey to reach Sanremo -to gather the applauses of the greatest motorcycle adventure enthusiasts- and take off on Saturday for the HAT Classic.
Among the old glories of the Dakar, in addition to the aforementioned Winkler, Birbes and Bignardi, the presence of Renato Zocchi and the unmissable Maurizio Sanna, but also the young GS ROOKIE TEAM who have faced the “short”
HAT Discovery in the context of the initiative that aims to bring young people closer to the world of Adventouring, a fast-growing motor sport discipline.
After the positive experience of last year, we should also mention the return of a QUADRO team with eleven QOODERS, the innovative tilting 4-wheel vehicle. Led by the same CEO of the Swiss company, Paolo Gagliardo, this year the squadron brilliantly closed the HAT Classic route from Sanremo to Sestriere.
Three paths have characterized this tenth edition, Extreme (900 km), Classic (580 km) and Discovery (420 km),designed for different riding skills. The tenth edition saw several new features on the tracks, which did not fail to amaze the participants who arrived in Sestriere largely satisfied by the routes, the enchanting views and the excellent welcome reserved in the numerous refreshment points set up on the HAT tracks. Among these, we mention the historical-medieval town of Pigna, where motorcyclists were able to temper themselves with an abundant selection of typical sweets of the place, accompanied by live music. An unforgettable moment for everyone!
Main Partners of this 2018 edition have been YAMAHA, with the new Ténéré World Raid Edition, LS2 HELMETS, with its range of adventure helmets including the innovative Subverter, ANLAS, which proposed the tire change service on site, GARMIN, with the his staff ready to take care of the navigation needs of the participants, KLIM, with its high quality technical clothing line and PLOTTERFILMS, a leading company in the production of materials for graphic works, which presented a nice initiative of collaboration with the inmates of the District House of Busto Arsizio and that sold the t-shirt “A Manetta – Freedom Dreamers” produced by them, directly at the HAT Village.

The HAT HARDALPITOUR Sanremo-Sestriere 2018 is an official event included in the adventouring Calendar of FIM (International Motorcycle Federation) and FMI (Federazione Motociclistica Italiana).
